Siren Test to occur Thursday Morning

Leonardtown, MD – The St. Mary’s County Department of Emergency Services & Technology, in cooperation with Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power plant, will conduct a growl test of all the alert and notification sirens located in St. Mary’s County on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 9:00 AM. A growl test involves a three second activation of sirens.

This out of sequence test is being conducted to enhance siren operation and increase public awareness of the alert and notification siren system. If sirens sound at any other time, residents should tune to one of the local radio stations listed below for information and instructions.

WSMD 98.3 FM Mechanicsville
WYRX 97.7 FM Lexington Park
WKIK 1560 AM La Plata

WNNT 100.9 FM Warsaw
